The Perfect Bite:
Nougatine - My new favorite lunch

I have been MIA (missing in action) for a few weeks now.  I flew to Tel-Aviv for work and would absolutely love the chance to share more about all the insanely delicious food that I ate there, but I’ll do that in another time and place. Before I left, I scheduled a business meeting for noon on the day I came back. Yesterday. Don’t ask me what I was thinking, but we landed at 4:30 a.m and by 10:00 I was slurring my words and could hardly speak. How was I going to get through this lunch meeting? Who would help me? The answer was Jean- Georges.

Nougatine, located at 1 CPW has one of the best business lunches I have had in the city. A three-course lunch costs $38 and the food comes straight from the same kitchen of its adjacent sister and higher end restaurant Jean-Gorges. I for one love the more casual vibe.

I started out with a cold glass of Sancerre along with some olive bread and a piece of sourdough that I dipped in EVOO. You’ll have to ask for the olive oil, since they serve the bread with butter. For an appetizer I had an unbelievable Tuna tartar, I dare say it was the best tartar I have ever had. The tuna is served with radishes over avocado and is submerged in a lick your fingers good ginger dressing,. For my main course I had a piece of sea bass served over a mushroom consume. The broth was also a bit sweet, pairing perfectly with the flavors left over in my mouth from the starter.  

The food was so delicious, the service impeccable and I even managed to carry on a business conversation despite the blurriness and forgetting how to speak English a few times. There is no doubt in my foggy mind, that the restaurant saved the day. I highly recommend making your way over there. It is a perfect spot.
